Gravy is an app that helps renters buy their first house. Save for a down payment, earn rewards, build your credit, learn about the process, and ultimately buy your new digs.

The challenge
Unfortunately, buying a home, particularly your first home, has never been more challenging. It's the biggest purchase many of us will ever make. And yet, if you're one of the millions of renters on the path to homeownership, you're left to navigate it all on your own.
There is more to homeownership than buying a house. There is the down payment, credit score, mortgage, closing costs, agents, lenders, home buying power, and more. Gravy started to make homeownership more accessible for all, and with that comes a complex mobile application that can help renters unlock the american dream.

The solution
The plan was to design a mobile app that helps renters accomplish the goal of buying their first home from the first day they start saving until the deal is closed and everything in between.
The mobile app used a modern interface that was easy to use and available for users across iOS devices and Android using the React Native framework.

The result
After a couple of months in beta, the Gravy mobile app launched in July 2021 and has acquired and retained over 33,000 users, rating at 4.8 and 4.4 on the App Store and Google Play Store.
While the rising adoption and good ratings are significant accomplishments, the best one yet is helping hundreds of people purchase their dream homes.

"Intuitive, easy savings"
Gravy does a lot of things right. I love that you can be rewarded for paying your rent, and as someone with multiple bank accounts it’s also a huge plus that you’re able to set up multiple recurring auto deposits with their own customized settings. When setting my goal, the app asked questions like where I planned to buy and in what timeframe so that it could suggest an appropriate amount to save, and it also uses this to continue making suggestions about how to adjust my auto deposits so I can meet my goal on time. So far, so good. Love it!

All of a sudden I feel like I am on track to buy a house next year when my lease ends. Free and super fast/easy to set up and use so far.
